NOTE:
Stay out of the sun when it’s rays are the most harmful, like around noon. Early morning sun and late afternoon sun (5:00 and after) is great for the body to produce vitamin D!

Q: Is it true that the rays can only penetrate the outermost layer of sunscreen on your face? E.g. If I wear SPF 50 and then put on an SPF 10 foundation on top of it, will the sun’s rays stop at the foundation layer? Haha because this is what a skincare sales lady told me and I thought it sounded like a load of bull crap!
A: First of all, that b*tch is an idiot and probably didn’t even know what she was talking about, because if she DID?? She would have been a bit more passionate about the sunscreen portion and not about the makeup portion. You can’t ADD UP SPF numbers like that to equal a STRONGER sunscreen. The SPF in your MAKEUP only protects against B-Rays! So things like sunburn, rashes, blahblahblah. If your makeup doesn’t specifically state that it protects against UVA as well (which it most likely doesn’t)?? Then it doesn’t!! And the UVA rays will still go deep into your skin and shrivel you up like a prune! Makeup with SPF in it is NOT a proper substitute for UVA/UVB sunscreen.

Q: i’m 12, do i have to use sunscreen when i go out, or do i have to worry about wrinkles? because i don’t want to get Wrinkles, but i’m still pretty young, i mean i have acne, so i think i’m young.
A: At 12 years old, your skin cells are still doing pretty great at dividing, protecting itself, etc. But it’s STILL being attacked by UV rays at the same time and SLOWLY killing your cells. If you want to stay youthful looking LONGER and SLOW DOWN THE AGING PROCESS DRAMATICALLY, you should be using sunscreen! But if you want to get old-looking super fast and look back on these days as the best you’ve ever looked, then go ahead and go without it. Lol. But also, if you have acne, remember to take care of your skin! Don’t just use sunscreen. Always cleanse it!

Q: I NEVER go into the sun, i mean EVER. my mom looks like a teenager still! People think she’s 17 and my sister hahaa. Another thing, my type of skin is combo. i use cetaphil moisturizer but it has NO spf, what should I do? What other moisturizers would work for me? I LOVE cetaphil though too. I get dry patches easily when I dont use it. Thanks for doing this! It helped out a lot!
A: You can do one of two things! 1.) Apply cetaphil moisturizer so it sinks into your skin, and THEN apply sunscreen over that (which is fine, and what people do normally anyways). Or 2.) Get a new moisturizer + sunscreen combination! Olay Regenerist UV Defense Regenerating Lotion SPF15 is a good choice. Amaaazing stuff. And if you don’t like that, just stick to Cetaphil and just grab a sunscreen to put over it real quick!

Q: So does that mean I shouldn’t go tanning?
A: TANNING IS THE F*CKING WORST FOR YOU!! Bed tanning for ten minutes = a FULL DAY IN THE SUN. And you’re only supposed to get FIFTEEN minutes of sun exposure. Instead, you’re getting 1440 minutes of sun exposure!! WTF OVERKILL. That’s 96x the amount you actually need!! Ahahahahahahhaa insane. Get sunlass tanning gel! Clarins Tanning Gel is much safer, and the tan is gorgeous.

    You aren’t …
You aren’t necessarily protected against UVB (UVC doesn’t reach the earth’s surface) if your sunscreen protects against UVA. Some chemical filters only protect against UVA, some UVB and some a combination of both. Chemical filters (all those except titanium dioxide and zinc oxide) do not “block” the sun’s rays. They absorb them, then convert the energy into heat. Studies have shown that this process can actually cause free-radical damage and an antioxidant serum should be use to counter this.

In my country we don’t have too much sun in winter, that seems to have started already lol, it’s just clear grey sky without any obvious sunrays. Do I have to apply the sunscreen? I feel stupid like doing so.

$9 billion pharmaceutical giant Schering-Plough (Coppertone) reported sun-care related sales of $204 million in 2005, up 16 percent from 2004 and up 40 percent from 2003, making the division one of Schering-Ploughs best performers by percentage growth.

    Cosmetic …
Cosmetic Corporations These giant cosmeceutical firms are driven by multibillion-dollar profits and are the leading purveyors of sun scare. These sunscreen manufacturers are marketing their products to block any and all UV exposure rather than simply for sunburn prevention. Sunscreen companies are enjoying record profits right now.

    Scaring people out …
Scaring people out of the sun is a multibillion-dollar business. Smart Tan coined the term sun scare in 1996 to properly identify those who were distorting the truth about sunshines complex relationship with human health in order to scare you out of the sun. Some sun scare groups profit by marketing a distorted sun abstinence message, while others simply tell you to avoid any and all sun exposure because they dont trust you to make your own decision about proper sun care.

    Sunscreen is an …
Sunscreen is an important issue and she raises a few good points here, but I don’t think you should believe what she says completely. She is not a dermatologist and I’m sure she got most of her information from online sites and magazines. She claims that free radicals attack the skin, but they are actually generated internally when molecular bonds split after sun exposure. I don’t like how she personifies UV rays and other terms to make the information “easier” to understand. It’s not cute!

So if u are using a moisturizer w/ sunscreen of a spf 30, do u have to reapply through out the day? Because I know some sunscreen bottle said to reapply every 2 hrs? so if you’re wearing makeup over your moisturizer, and have to reapply, how would that work? I’m sorry if that is a stupid question, i was just always wondering about it.

hmm i’m not sure if …
hmm i’m not sure if you can equate sunscreen as TREATMENT. it’s an excellent preventative measure to take but once the sun has tanned your skin, there’s nothing sunscreen can do to reverse that damage. you need much stronger, much more expensive products that have amino acids to help rebuild the broken dna that the sun has destroyed.
