If you are grown and experience oily skin, start looking at the products that you are using. The oiliness of your skin is attributed
to hormones and genetics, however, most people who experience very oily skin often have the problem from using too many chemical products. Your skin may be oily because it has been stripped of it’s natural moisture. You want to avoid ANY over the counter acne treatment or products for oily skin. These products are alcohol based and will strip your skin’s natural oils away. At this point, your body kicks into overdrive. Thinking that your skin is too dry, because the natural oils are gone, your brain tells your body to make more oil. This of course causes your skin to become more oily, and
the cycle never ends. The key to getting rid of oily skin is finding balance. Here’s what to do for oily skin:
1) Do not use over the counter acne products (no alcohol or Benzoyl Peroxide)- They will dry your skin causing over-stimulation of the oil glands.
2) Look for products that are natural and contain HIGH concentrations of aloe. It should be in the first 3 to 5 ingredients of any product you buy. **Aloette products are recommended.**
3) Start the following regimen:
*Cleanse with mild cleanser (preferably aloe based).
*Tone (The purpose of a toner is to act as the "rinse cycle" for your face. Everyone should use toner after washing the face to
remove any left over cleansers or dirt. Do not use a toner with alcohol in it. You can buy alcohol free toners or use witch hazel.
It’s the perfect natural toner for most skin types.)
*Nourish – Drink Water, take vitamins& zinc, and apply topical vitamin C to your skin.
* Moisturize – There is a difference in Oil and Moisture, your skin needs moisture to be healthy, A good vitamin C cream will
help kill bacteria too.
*Exfoliate – at least 2 times per week- DO NOT let dead skin cells build up on the surface and clog your pores.

Go directly to your local Clinique counter. The 3 step skincare system is pretty amazing. I have oily skin and have been using it for years and average only 3 or 4 pimples a year. I have oily skin and I use the soap (mild) , clarifying lotion #3 and dramatically different moisturizing lotion NOT the gel (the gel doesn’t work on my oily skin). When I wear makeup I also use the foaming facial cleanser which takes off the makeup. I swear to you this is the best system for oily skin. I sincerely swear by it. The soap cleans your skin, the clarifying lotion balances it and ensures you won’t produce excess oil and the moisturizer makes your skin baby soft. It is an investment – to buy everything the first time is between $30 – 40 but lasts a good 3 months or so – you will likely run out of the clarifying lotion much more quickly than the soap or the moisturizer. A hint – if you decide to try it, buy during Clinique Bonus Time at your local department store – then you’ll get fun free samples with your purchase!

Oily skin is very hard to deal with. Using strong products that may take away excess oils may also leave your skin dry, so what you need are those that can help control these excess oils. I stay clear of synthetic products, and only use those that are natural like lemon, lime or eucalyptus oils.
